Nah, I can't make trades like that. Although some guy said he made a trade on his wedding day to just make the trade. Maybe I can get Brad to trade you Pujols as a wedding gift to us.

If I'm the Nationals, I'm taking him, but catchers have a poor track record in baseball drafts. Luckily Bryce has the bat to not play catcher and still have value. Thanks for the comment!

I was wondering if you think Bryce Harper will go to the Nationals as this year’s first baseball draft pick? Leni via Bryce Harper

Right, Mauer has such an advantage over every other catcher, as long as he's playing he's ahead of everyone else. Even if Mauer comes down to Earth a lot, he's still the #1 guy. I'd be willing to bet that Victor Martinez regresses backwards more than Mauer, and short of Matt Wieters having a sophomore juggernaut season, nobody will come close from that position. He's to valuable.

Mauer has the same odds as any other player to bust. But he has less reason than most to actually do that. Injuries are a concern, but the Twins aren't afraid to DH him, so its win win for the fantasy owner.

Yeah Russell Martin was not the fantasy catcher you wanted at all last year!

My one fantasy magazine actually had Mauer as a bust this year. Can you believe that? I think a lot of people forget that he missed a full month of action and still managed to dominate. He's easily above 30 homers if he plays a full season. Obviously you can't expect him to hit near .370 again so I expect that to come down, but then again with this guy, I wouldn't be surprised if he did it again.

I love the optimism! I also have a weird appreciate for Parra, which is who I saw and thought of the article. Thanks for the comment! I feel the same way about LaRoche, one of the brothers needs to break out right?

Sigh, I have Manny Parra in my keeper league. I signed him to a long-term deal a couple years back after his breakout season when he looked like he would turn into a solid starter for years. I'm hoping he still has it in him to turn it around and have a decent season.

On a bias Pirate note, I think LaRoche is in line for semi-breakout season. He hit 8 of his homers last year in the last two months of the the season, so I think if he avoids a bad start like last year, he can put up 20+ homers.

I wouldn't necessarily say that this would *ruin* fantasy baseball for me (there's always other favorite/coveted players), but it's rather disappointing that manipulation (and yes, I do think it's manipulation) like this can happen.

A simple way to remedy this situation for future years: Keeper "clocks" cannot be reset if let go and subsequently drafted by the same person.
